Karen Schaffer believes that through stories we learn the truth about ourselves. Her attraction to Hire Alignment is a natural one, since she has long discussed purpose as a motivator for individuals through her writing and career coaching. She believes everyone has a story to tell worth listening to and that an organization’s story is made up of individuals finding a collective voice through shared values.
Karen has been a professional writer and coach for over 10 years. She has published books in Canada and the U.S., including the bestseller “Hire Power: the ultimate job guide for young Canadians”, “The Job of Your Life: Four Groundbreaking Steps for Getting the Work You Want” (Prentice Hall) and “The Complete Book of Resumes” (Sourcebooks Inc.). Karen has written articles for major newspapers, including The Toronto Star and The National Post, and used her writing, coaching and listening skills with a variety of businesses, from banks to think tanks.
For three years she was Partner, Career Management with IQ Partners, a recruitment firm created from the belief that there was a way to run a successful recruiting firm while treating every potential candidate with warmth and care.
Karen holds a Masters in Counseling Psychology from the Adler School of Professional Psychology and an Honors BA in Cultural Studies from McGill University.
